McGrory Glass stocks several varieties of Restoration
Window Glass to meet the requirements for all
Restoration and Renovation projects. We can supply
authentic hand-blown glass to match the existing
structures historic requirements or similar products to
fit the budgetary constraints. McGrory can furnish many
of these products in tempered or laminated to meet
today's stringent building codes.
Three
primary classifications of the manufacturing processes
used in Restoration window glass are: Mouth-blown,
Machine drawn and Rolled. Some recent advancements have
allowed for larger sizes and tempering capabilities of
some "Restoration type" glazing.
Old World Colonial
This mouth-blown glass is made in Europe the same way it
has been for hundreds of years by master craftsmen. If
your historic project requires blown glass from 1900 or
earlier, this is the glass you want. It is available in
(3) categories; light, medium and heavy distortion.
Colonial Antique (1900-1950)
Colonial Antique is a machine drawn restoration
window glass. This is the most widely used glass for
restoration purposes for the time period of 1900-1950. t
is also used when tempering, size limitations or budget
considerations preclude the use of hand-blown glass.
Several textures and variations are available to meet
your project requirements.
Rolled Restoration
Rolled Restoration window glass is similar to Old World
style glass with subtle antique characteristics. It is
characterized by a gentle wave, limited seed content and
consistent thickness/sheet size. If you are looking for
a realistic antique glass to refurbish furniture or
buildings at a reasonable price, this may be your best
option.
